Bone Loss & Implants

Told you don't have enough bone for implants?

Being told that bone loss rules out implants can feel like the end of the road. It is not always the final answer.

All-on-4 can sometimes be an option even after that. The only way to know is to look, and the X-rays at your assessment show exactly what is possible.

Common Worries

If this sounds like you

Common worries about bone loss, and what we can tell you.

Why It Happens

Why bone loss happens

When a tooth is lost, the bone that held its root can gradually shrink. Dentures rest on the gums rather than in the bone, so years of wearing them is a common cause.

Less bone can rule out some kinds of implant, but not every option. All-on-4 places four implants to hold a full set of fixed teeth, and it is sometimes possible for people who have been told they do not have enough bone.

Can I have implants if I've been told I don't have enough bone?

Sometimes, yes. All-on-4 can be an option for people who have been told before that implants are not possible because of bone loss in the jaw. Only your X-rays can show whether it is possible for you.

How do you check how much bone I have?

With X-rays at your full case assessment, a one-hour appointment that also includes photographs, moulds and your treatment plan. It is £125.

How much will treatment cost?

It depends on your plan, so you get the cost at your assessment, before anything begins. Every implant fee is on our fees page, and finance is available, subject to status.
